A total solar eclipse in the Adirondacks is a rare event and we're making the most of it! Throughout the region, you'll find viewing parties at a range of locations, from public parks to Olympic sites, museums to village greens. Celebrate the total solar eclipse, Town of Jay-style! Watch the eclipse from "The Grove" in Au Sable Forks and enjoy wide open spaces, cleared parking, additional bathroom facilities, and refreshments from The Dogfather Food Cart. After the eclipse, head to the Jay Community Center down the road for live music, replays, and free hors d'oeuvres, starting at 4 p.m.

The Olympic Center will host a free viewing party on April 8 for the 2024 Solar Eclipse on the James C. Sheffield Speed Skating Oval (conditions permitting). Gates open at 1 p.m. before the 2:13 p.m. start of the eclipse in Lake Placid, NY. The Oval offers an open south by southwest facing view of the Adirondack High Peaks and the iconic Olympic Ski Jumps, with room for many spectators to gather and watch the entirety of the solar eclipse from start to finish. Spectators can also enjoy onsite food and music.

The 1980 Herb Brooks Arena will be open to the public from 2-5 p.m. on April 8 showing a live feed of the 2024 total solar eclipse on the 1980 Herb Brooks Arena jumbotron! This is an excellent viewing alternative if weather is poor. Grab a bite to eat or a drink in Roamers Café overlooking the Speed Skating Oval and festivities. The Roamers Café Deck will offer a limited view of the solar eclipse with limited capacity.

View the total solar eclipse on April 8 from the Mt. Van Hoevenberg Olympic Sports Complex! Admittance to the venue is free, with viewing available on the outdoor deck. The 81-18 Cafe will be open with food & drink for purchase from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Indoor Climbing sessions will also be available for purchase.

View the total solar eclipse on April 8 from the Lake Placid Olympic Jumping Complex! Viewing at this location is free. The venue will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Skyride will run until 2 p.m. Enjoy live music by Austin and the In-Laws from 1:30-4:30 p.m.

The Lake Placid Olympic Center is kicking off eclipse activities on Sunday, April 7 with “Eclipse the House.” From 5-9:30 p.m. there will be hours of curling and public skating available under cosmic lighting with music in both the 1932 and 1980 rinks. Roamers Café and Bar will be serving food and drinks. Before the eclipse on April 8, you can get tickets and try curling from 10 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. in the 1932 Rink.
